In Salzburg-Aigen, police arrested a 31-year-old on Wednesday who was driving a vehicle that did not belong to him. During a search, officers found drugs in his possession, according to a report from ORF Salzburg.
Everything began in the afternoon in Hallein. A witness observed a loud dispute there between a woman and the man who was later arrested. When both subsequently drove off in a car towards the state capital, the passer-by called the police. The police immediately launched a search for the vehicle.
In the course of this search, it emerged that the vehicle's owner had already reported the car as stolen. She explained that the 31-year-old had taken the keys from her flat without asking her permission. Why he did this remains unknown for now.
Shortly afterwards, officers spotted the vehicle and the man in Aigen. During the traffic stop, the Salzburg man reacted in an extremely hostile manner and refused to follow instructions. The police officers therefore arrested him.
Because there was suspicion of drug-impaired driving, a court-appointed doctor was called in. Additionally, officers confiscated narcotics. The vehicle was returned to its rightful owner. Charges have been filed against the suspect, who remains free pending further proceedings. The investigation is ongoing.
