Stone-throwing from motorway bridge in Wolfurt: Police investigating
According to vol.at, on Saturday, 17 October 2026, at approximately 15:17, a dangerous incident occurred on the A14 Rhine Valley motorway: Two previously unknown children or youths threw several stones from the Montfortstraße motorway bridge in Wolfurt onto cars travelling beneath it.
At least two vehicles heading towards Germany were hit and damaged. In one case, a stone smashed through the rear windscreen. The affected drivers managed to leave the motorway safely.
The suspects were travelling on an electric scooter and a bicycle. Despite an immediate search, they could not be apprehended.
Already on Friday, 16 October, a similar incident had occurred at the same bridge: at least one car was damaged there, which was travelling towards Tyrol. Whether the same persons were responsible for both incidents remains unclear. A connection cannot be ruled out according to police.
Police are now seeking witnesses who made suspicious observations in the area of the bridge on either day or who can provide information about the suspects. Reports are being accepted by the Dornbirn motorway police station on +43 (0) 59 133 8141 as well as at any other police station.
