WEGA operation in Vienna following serious threats
A police operation involving special forces took place in Vienna after a 36-year-old had seriously threatened another man. The background appeared to be jealousy – the aggressor suspected his victim of having an affair with his girlfriend.
The incident occurred during the night going into Tuesday. The victim contacted the authorities the next day and filed a report. He stated that the suspect could be in possession of a firearm.
Following this, the WEGA special operations unit was alerted. Towards midday, officers moved to the flat of the 36-year-old citizen in the 14th district. The man was at home but did not open the door to police. The officers eventually forced their way into the flat.
The suspect was provisionally arrested. Investigations into the case are ongoing.
