A traffic stop in late April 2026 in Neusiedl am See (Burgenland) was the starting point: officers stopped a man under the influence of drugs and seized cannabis flowers. According to Google News AT – Crime (de), subsequent investigations led to an alleged 45-year-old supplier.
On the basis of investigation findings, the authorities obtained a search warrant for the Vienna flat of the suspect. During the operation conducted with the WEGA, officers found two active cannabis indoor plantations with a total of 51 plants, approximately 1.2 kilograms of cannabis flowers and resin, psychotropic mushrooms, around 2,000 euros in cash and a telescopic baton.
According to current investigation findings, the 45-year-old is alleged to have produced approximately 13.2 kilograms of cannabis flowers and to have distributed approximately 7.3 kilograms of it. The man has since been remanded in custody at Vienna-Josefstadt prison, police said.
