Two Slovenian citizens, aged 28 and 29, were arrested in Styria after fraudulently obtaining a small van in Ljubljana and fleeing from police.

Austrian police arrested two Slovenian men, aged 28 and 29, in Styria overnight on Friday. The suspects had fled with a stolen small van from the security authorities and caused a traffic accident during their escape.
According to the Austrian news agency APA, quoted by N1, the two suspects posed as buyers of a small van in Ljubljana on Thursday. From a 58-year-old seller, also a Slovenian citizen, they took the vehicle using false identity documents and a forged payment confirmation, then drove towards Austria.
When the seller realised he had fallen victim to fraud, he informed the Slovenian police. They promptly relayed the information to their Austrian counterparts, who located the stolen small van on motorway A2 between Klagenfurt and Graz.
The Austrian officers called on the driver several times to stop the vehicle, but the 29-year-old did not respond to their signals. Near Graz, he left the motorway and continued towards Schavnica. The escape ended around 10 p.m. when the vehicle struck a traffic sign.
Both suspects sustained minor injuries in the accident. The officers arrested them and filed criminal charges. The damaged small van was returned to its owner in Ljubljana after completion of the proceedings.
