Peterbos case: drug trafficking trial postponed

A case of organised drug trafficking operating in the Peterbos neighbourhood of Anderlecht has been adjourned by the French-speaking correctional court of Brussels. The next hearing is scheduled for 1 September.

This postponement comes after an initial appearance on Thursday. Two of the accused parties filed an appeal against the decision referring them to court. Their status should be clarified when proceedings resume.

Approximately ten defendants appeared that morning for this preliminary phase. Among them, some are currently in custody, either for these offences or for other crimes.

The magistrate presiding over the correctional chamber indicated that she was aiming for trial proceedings to begin around mid-October. All substantive debate should then take place.
