The Namur prosecution has defended its responsiveness in the Lenoci affair, emphasising that Marc P. was the subject of a deprivation of liberty order less than 24 hours after the facts were reported.

Magistrate Caroline Storms, speaking on behalf of the Namur prosecution, contested the notion that the courts had been slow to react in the case involving Marc P. and Grégory Lenoci. According to her, the alleged delays did not cause the Jambois resident to resort to violent action.
On 22 July 2025, a child allegedly suffered abuse at the hands of Marc P. That same evening, the child spoke of "secret games" with this man. The following morning, at 11 o'clock, Lenoci went to the police station to report the facts. An error occurred in the identification of the suspect, which prevented the police officer from immediately making the connection with Marc P. This apparent delay greatly angered the person making the report.
However, the forces of law and order resumed action early in the afternoon. Marc P. was indeed identified as a suspect. The child's hearing was scheduled for 24 July at 8 o'clock, less than a day after the report. "It did not drag on," insisted Caroline Storms.
According to the prosecution, Lenoci had already prepared his actions and did not deviate from his intention. He lured Marc P. to his home at 16:30. The blows came swiftly. At 16:57, the prosecution ordered the arrest of Marc P., unaware that the latter was already in a vegetative state from which he did not recover eleven months after the facts.
