According to rtl.be, a knife attack broke out during the night from Saturday to Sunday, shortly before 8:00 a.m., in an establishment on Rue du Pot d'Or, in the heart of the Carré district in Liège. The Liège prosecutor's office confirmed the facts on Sunday morning.

A 45-year-old man wounded a 19-year-old youth during a brawl, before fleeing the scene. The victim was attended to by emergency services and presented with a two-centimetre deep cut to the neck.

The attacker was identified through surveillance cameras installed at the exit of the establishment. The footage showed him wiping his knife after the incident.

The suspect, already known for similar offences, was arrested and presented to the Liège prosecutor's office. His file has been referred for investigation with a request for an arrest warrant on charges of attempted murder.
