Armed brawl near Charleroi Town Hall: scene cleared before police intervention
DHnet reports that a new scene of violence occurred on Tuesday evening, around 8 p.m., in the heart of Charleroi, in the immediate vicinity of the Town Hall.
Police services and emergency services were called to the intersection of rue Chavanne and boulevard Janson, in the upper part of the city. Witnesses reported a violent brawl involving several individuals, some of whom were armed with machetes and others with saws.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers found no one: neither attackers nor injured persons. Only traces of blood on the ground and a saw abandoned on a window ledge attested to the altercation. The protagonists, including the injured persons, had all fled.
These elements, according to DHnet, point investigators towards a settling of scores in the drugs underworld.
Police established a security perimeter and informed the Charleroi prosecutor's office. The injured person or persons and the other individuals involved are the subject of active searches.
