The Wetteren, Laarne, Wichelen police zone had to respond twice on Tuesday evening to brawls. At the second incident, reinforcements were requested from four neighbouring zones.

The Wetteren, Laarne, Wichelen police zone received two reports of violent incidents on Tuesday evening.
The first call came in at 22:15 for a fight on Fortstraat. Fifteen to twenty people were involved in the conflict, according to spokeswoman Evelien De Stoop.
Thirty minutes later, a second alert followed, this time at Ijzeren Brug. For this second incident, the zone called for help from four surrounding forces: Berlare-Zele, Erpe-Mere-Lede, Dendermonde and Rhode en Schelde. To calm the situation, police dogs were also deployed.
Around midnight, the situation was under control. One person was placed in administrative detention, which means the police can hold someone for twelve hours to maintain public order.
