Federal police have announced that the two offenders who committed an armed robbery at a jewellery shop in central Liège on 27 March have been identified.

Investigators have succeeded in identifying the two individuals who robbed a jewellery shop in central Liège at gunpoint on 27 March. Belgian federal police announced on Thursday morning that the identification of the perpetrators constituted a major breakthrough in this case.
On that day, a first man, wearing sunglasses, had entered the shop alone. He had quickly brandished a handgun and threatened a member of staff. Shortly after, a second accomplice, equipped with a helmet and also armed, had joined him inside. Under duress, staff had been forced to open the safe. The two offenders then fled with a substantial haul comprising jewels, gold and precious stones.
Two days ago, the Liège public prosecutor's office had already indicated that a first person had been arrested and remanded in custody. This person, however, contests any participation in the facts. Another suspect remained actively sought at that time.
Today, the judiciary confirms that the two perpetrators of the robbery are formally identified. Federal police wished to express their gratitude to all persons who responded to the appeal for witnesses launched following the incident.
