Body found in boot in Menin: neighbour raises alarm

A cadaver was discovered on Thursday, 1st October 2026 in the boot of a parked car in Menin, reports lavenir.net. The vehicle belonged to a man reported missing for around ten days, according to the West Flanders prosecutor's office.

It was a neighbour who notified the authorities after noticing that the car had been stationary in the same location for approximately a week. Law enforcement then conducted a search of the vehicle and found the body in the boot. The identity of the deceased person has not yet been established.

The vehicle's owner has remained unaccounted for since last week.

The crime scene investigation (CSI) service of the federal judicial police attended the scene. An investigating judge has also been assigned to oversee the investigation.

The inquiry will need to determine the identity of the victim, the circumstances of his presence in the boot and the exact cause of death, the prosecutor's office specified.
