A prison escapee committed a series of offences — thefts, computer fraud, property damage — within the span of a year, targeting principally his relatives. The prosecution has sought a sentence of five years' imprisonment.

Georges — a fictitious name — has been on the run since his prison escape. In barely twelve months, he committed a multitude of offences across the Centre region: thefts, armed robberies, break-ins, digital fraud, as well as the theft of a motor vehicle that was reduced to scrap metal. Those who suffered his crimes are, for the most part, members of his own family or acquaintances.
A woman from the locality had opened her door to protect him from the winter cold. The very next day, law enforcement officers knocked on her door. Her car had been found on a car park in Soignies, completely demolished. The driver recognised her property, whilst emphasising that it was not supposed to be in circulation: no insurance and no valid technical inspection. The car keys disappeared, and so did Georges. Shortly after, she received the bill for repairs.
Back on the streets, the suspect allegedly committed further crimes before being apprehended. When faced with investigators, he denied each allegation outright. According to the deputy prosecutor, the charges are substantiated for the most part, with the exception of a two-wheeled vehicle burglary dated 30 March 2025, where uncertainty remains.
The prosecution paints an alarming portrait of the individual. His assaults target people from his circle, terrorised by his outbursts of brutality. The magistrate describes him as an opportunistic predator, operating outside reality and disregarding the basic rules of living together. Since June, he had been surviving in the wild.
In 2018, he had already received a sentence of four years' imprisonment without suspended sentence. Today, the public prosecutor's office is demanding a conviction of five years behind bars.
