On Wednesday at approximately 15:00, police services apprehended a 43-year-old man on Rue Navette, in the Saint-Léonard sector of Liège. This arrest is part of an active enforcement strategy deployed against drug trafficking in public spaces.
During the search of the vehicle he was driving, officers found on him approximately twenty rocks of cocaine, a knuckleduster, several mobile devices and an envelope containing 585 euros. Investigators subsequently searched his residence, where they discovered an alarm-type handgun, cartridges and two precision scales.
The suspect, who had no prior criminal record, is living in the country without authorisation to stay. When questioned by investigators, he downplayed his role by stating that he was only doing favours for acquaintances. The public prosecutor's office opted for an accelerated summons procedure in order to bring him before the competent court.
