Flémalle: overnight pursuit ends in arrest
Around 3 a.m. during the night of Saturday to Sunday, a motorist attracted the attention of police officers through his suspicious behaviour behind the wheel in Flémalle, according to sudinfo.be. Refusing to stop at the orders of law enforcement, he sparked a chase through the streets of the municipality.
During the pursuit, the driver engaged in driving described as "extremely dangerous" by the authorities, notably obstructing traffic. Initial findings indicate, however, that no other road users were on his route, which prevented other people from being put in danger.
The chase came to an end when police managed to intercept the vehicle. Tests carried out on the spot revealed that the driver was under the simultaneous influence of alcohol and drugs.
Deprived of his liberty, the man was referred Sunday morning to the Liège prosecutor's office. He will be cited directly before the criminal court, where he will have to answer for his conduct before the law.
