Daniel, convicted of rape of a 14-year-old girl, receives suspended sentence with probation

A young man named Daniel has been convicted of the rape of a 14-year-old girl as well as two counts of assault and battery against his partner. The court sentenced him to four years in prison with a suspended sentence subject to probation.

During the proceedings, the defendant claimed that he did not know that a legal age limit existed for obtaining consent from a minor. This argument did not prevent his conviction for the sexual assault committed against the young girl.

In addition to the rape, the young man was also found guilty of two incidents of physical violence inflicted on his partner.
