Ten years in prison sought against a father accused of rape of his daughter in Liège
The prosecutor sought on Friday, before the Liège magistrates' court, a sentence of ten years' imprisonment coupled with supervision by the sentence management court for five years against a man in his fifties. DHnet reports that the defendant is prosecuted for rape, sexual assault and incitement to debauchery of his own daughter.
Reported in 2022, the man is suspected of bringing his daughter from Morocco before forcing her to undergo rape and sexual assault. The file also mentions recordings made in the bathroom of their building, where the young girl appears naked. She is said to have been compelled to go to pharmacies to purchase emergency contraceptive pills using false prescriptions drawn up by her father.
The investigation further revealed that the defendant held, on a tablet and a mobile phone, images involving minors in an explicitly sexual context. He is also accused of harassment of his daughter and another woman.
At the hearing, the prosecutor stressed that the defendant denies all the facts and accepts no responsibility. He claims that his daughter is lying in order to harm him.
The defence, conducted by Me Desamblanx, pleaded doubt and sought acquittal on the moral charges, as well as a sentence with probationary suspension for certain facts of assault and harassment.
The court will deliver its verdict on 16 October.
