Broken taillight reveals drug arsenal in Sint-Truiden

A routine traffic stop in Sint-Truiden on 3 October at around 22:30 led to the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of a significant quantity of narcotics. This is reported by dhnet.be on the basis of information from Belga.

An intervention team from the Sint-Truiden-Gingelom-Nieuwerkerken police zone stopped a vehicle because a taillight was defective. During the inspection, officers noticed cigarette packets on the back seat: the packaging did not match the original labels. During a more thorough search, narcotics were found on both the driver (49 years old) and his passenger (47 years old).

In the vehicle, officers also found ziplock bags, a sum of money and a baseball bat. Both occupants were arrested. The driver also tested positive on a saliva test.

On the orders of the Limburg public prosecutor, a search was carried out in Sint-Truiden. During this, a third suspect was arrested: a 30-year-old woman resident in the city. In the flat, investigators found cash, cocaine, GHB, ketamine, speed and cannabis, along with various items that could be linked to drug trafficking. Everything was seized.

The investigating judge in Hasselt decided to remand the trio in custody. They are suspected of trafficking in narcotics. All three are from the region.
