Liège: Prosecutors seek 18 to 20 years' imprisonment for Ethan De Graaf
The public prosecutor's representative has demanded a heavy sentence against the 23-year-old man from Seraing, held responsible for the death of his former partner in Flémalle.

Magistrate Xavier Montiel-Corte from the public prosecutor's office pleaded on Monday before the Liège assize court for a sentence of 18 to 20 years' deprivation of liberty against Ethan De Graaf. The young man, from Seraing and aged 23, has been found responsible for the death of Alexandra Périlleux, 26. The jury's decision was expected in the afternoon.
The tragedy occurred during the night of 5 August 2023, shortly after 1.30 a.m., on the territory of Flémalle. It was the defendant himself who had contacted the police after inflicting fatal blows on the woman with whom he had recently shared his life.
In his argument, the prosecutor described a relationship marked by volatile temperaments. According to him, the defendant took a radical course that he did not understand. When Alexandra Périlleux pursued her life according to her own decisions, he did not come to terms with this separation. Swept up by a possessive feeling and uncontrollable fury, he brutally ended her life.
However, the public prosecutor also noted mitigating circumstances: the defendant had never had previous contact with the justice system, he was cooperative throughout the proceedings, he showed remorse and presents serious prospects for social reintegration.
The defence counsel, Maîtres Paye and Croisier, for their part sought a less severe sentence so as not to permanently close the doors of rehabilitation for their client.
