Man sentenced to three years in prison for defrauding employer and customers of €39,000
A man who defrauded his employer and at least thirteen customers of nearly €39,000 was sentenced in absentia on Wednesday to three years imprisonment by the Brussels correctional court.

A man who worked in 2024 for an import and distribution company for car brands was sentenced in absentia on Wednesday to three years imprisonment. He had collected advance payments from various individuals and companies for the purchase of new vehicles, but never transferred the money to his employer.
According to the prosecution, the man collected advance payments on at least thirteen occasions, either in cash or to his private account. In this way, he obtained nearly €39,000 before the crimes came to light. The company had to reimburse all affected customers from its own funds.
The suspect was summoned for questioning on multiple occasions but never appeared. He was also absent from the trial. He already has multiple convictions on his criminal record. The prosecution therefore requested a prison sentence of three years, which the court upheld.
