Children not collected, police find mother's body in Sint-Gillis
The lifeless body of a woman was found in an apartment in Sint-Gillis late yesterday evening. According to vrt.be, the victim was killed by violence, which included serious neck injuries among other injuries.
The alarm was raised via the school of her two children. Normally the mother would take them to school herself every morning, but on that day they were apparently dropped off by a man. When nobody collected the children at the end of the school day, the school contacted the police.
Officers traced the children's home address and found the woman's body at around 23:30. Police and forensic scientists were on site throughout the night conducting evidence collection. This morning a security cordon remained around the flat.
The investigation is being handled by the federal judicial police. The Brussels public prosecutor's office is not communicating about the case for the time being. As far as is known, no suspect has been arrested yet.
