Magistrates at the Mons-Tournai prosecutor's office have opened an investigation targeting Thomas Rorive, a former television presenter, the public prosecutor's office announced Thursday. This confirmation echoes a revelation by RTBF, the broadcaster that previously employed him.
The prosecutor's office clarified, via the Belga news agency, that these new facts do not fall into the category of sexual offences. The judicial authorities preferred not to disclose further details in order to protect the proper conduct of the investigations.
This parallel case comes just after the criminal court of the capital handed down a sentence of three years' imprisonment with a five-year probationary suspended sentence against Rorive. Wednesday's judgment concerned violations of the physical and sexual integrity of two female victims, as well as voyeurism offences.
According to sources within RTBF, the charges filed in Hainaut would involve domestic violence against a former partner. His lawyer spoke following the Brussels verdict without addressing this separate proceeding.
