Seraing police have arrested a 20-year-old young man travelling on an electric scooter and transporting nearly twenty grammes of cocaine. His accomplice fled the scene.

On Monday in the late afternoon, around 16:30, a team from Seraing police zone spotted two men moving together on an electric scooter. Officers decided to carry out an identity check, but the situation rapidly deteriorated.
The passenger attempted to flee on foot, whilst the driver took advantage of the confusion to disappear. Law enforcement nevertheless managed to apprehend the first suspect after a short chase. He is a young man named Réda, born in 2005, who was staying illegally in Belgium and had never previously been entered in the criminal record.
During the search, officers discovered several pellets of white powder. Weighing revealed a total quantity of 23 grammes of cocaine. The individual was also carrying three mobile devices and a bundle of 530 euros in small-denomination notes.
Questioned at the police station, the suspect eventually admitted that he had been engaged in drug dealing for forty-eight hours. The justice system chose to handle his case using an expedited procedure.
