Assault at Floreffe: municipal worker struck by motorcyclist

On Monday morning, a municipal employee repairing the road surface on Rue de Taravisée in Floreffe was violently assaulted. As he was urging a two-wheeler to moderate its speed in the work area, the helmeted rider stopped to deliver two punches to his face.

The zone was clearly marked off due to maintenance operations on this rural road located at the municipal boundary, towards Fosses-la-Ville and Sambreville. The road surface there is particularly degraded, with several tyres already damaged by potholes.

Mayor Philippe Vautard recounted the facts on social media. He specified that a statement was recorded with the competent authorities and calls on anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward in order to clarify the circumstances of this assault.

This incident occurs exactly seven days after another attack on a municipal officer in the region. In Ham-sur-Sambre, a refuse collector was attacked with an iron bar for refusing to empty a non-compliant rubbish bin.
