Woman suffers broken nose after intervening in bus incident in Sambreville

A violent incident occurred on a Letec bus in Tamines, a sub-municipality of Sambreville, on Monday. A young man in his twenties struck a female passenger so hard that she suffered a broken nose. The Namur public prosecutor's office released this information on Wednesday.

The vehicle's driver had refused the man in his twenties entry to the bus. The reason for this was the suspicion that the man was under the influence of narcotics. Tensions escalated as a result. A woman who was travelling on the bus attempted to mediate in the conflict. The aggressor struck her directly in the face.

Police were able to arrest the perpetrator the same day, Monday. The man was found to have previous contact with the justice system for offences of assault and battery. On Tuesday, the investigating magistrate decided to remand him in custody pending further proceedings. The exact sequence of events is currently being investigated by detectives.
