Arrest in Aleksandrovo following assault on police officer during inspection
In the Svishtov village of Aleksandrovo, law enforcement authorities have arrested a 59-year-old local resident who assaulted an officer during a police inspection. The incident occurred on Thursday, when a report was received at the district police station. A patrol visited the man's home to conduct an on-site inspection.
When the uniformed officers attempted to impose order, the homeowner rejected their request and responded with physical threats towards one of them. Following intervention by his colleagues, the offender was subdued and taken away. A measure for detention of up to one day was applied against him under the Law on the Interior Ministry.
At present, pre-trial proceedings are being conducted on the facts. Investigators must establish what caused the escalation and whether the officer sustained bodily injuries. The collected documentation will be sent to the prosecutor's office, where they will decide whether to bring charges.
According to information published in Paragraf, this is not the only recent case of violence against police officers in the region. Just days ago, they arrested a 23-year-old from the neighbouring village of Alekovo for assault.
