Owner of Botev Plovdiv Iliyan Filipov shot dead in Plovdiv
Businessman Iliyan Filipov, owner of transport company PIMK and football club Botev Plovdiv, was killed in a shooting in Plovdiv in the early hours of Wednesday.

Businessman Iliyan Filipov — founder of transport company PIMK and owner of football club Botev Plovdiv — was killed in a shooting in Plovdiv, according to Novinite.com.
A report of a shot man was received around 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning from one of the city's residential areas, the Plovdiv Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior reported. Police officers who arrived at the scene found the man dead.
According to preliminary information, which has not been officially confirmed, Filipov was shot in the head.
The area around the crime scene has been cordoned off, movement on several streets has been restricted whilst investigation teams work at the scene. In the early morning hours, exits from Plovdiv were also closed.
An investigation into a serious crime has been opened in connection with the case. Teams from the Plovdiv Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior and the National Police Directorate are involved in the operation. At present there is no official information on whether suspects have been detained or are being sought.
Filipov was founder and manager of PIMK — one of the leading companies in Bulgaria's transport sector. Over the years the company expanded its activities into the construction industry.
He was also a prominent figure in Plovdiv's football circles — closely associated with Botev Plovdiv, one of the leading clubs in the city. His name is also linked to the construction of Hristo Botev stadium, known among fans as "Collegea".
The Ministry of Interior is expected to provide further details about the circumstances of the murder and the progress of the investigation.
