Hooded men robbed a jewellery shop on the third ring of Santa Cruz. Governor Juan Pablo Velasco demands urgent police reinforcement.

Velasco visits attacked jewellery shop and alerts over advance of organised crime in Santa Cruz
The governor of Santa Cruz, Juan Pablo Velasco, appeared on Sunday evening at the shopping centre on Busch avenue and the third ring where hooded subjects violently robbed a jewellery shop, according to reporting by El Deber. Velasco immediately demanded an increase in police personnel for the department.
"We Santa Cruzians cannot live as hostages to this. Organised crime is taking over the peace of Santa Cruzians and we will not allow it," declared the departmental authority.
Velasco noted that he had already established contact with police and military commanders to coordinate constant patrols, acknowledging that "the forces we have today are not coping".
The governor identified high-conflict zones within the department, including San Ignacio and San Matías, where, according to his words, robberies and murders are recorded repeatedly. He also called for the creation of his own departmental guard.
According to preliminary reports, four armed individuals wearing hoods burst into the jewellery shop, firing several shots before carrying out the robbery. Eyewitnesses indicated that the assailants had a Brazilian accent.
