Empty safe and no DVR: findings from the Héroes del Chaco neighbourhood raid
A cabinet-style safe, more than one metre in height, was discovered inside a luxury apartment raided in the Héroes del Chaco neighbourhood of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, according to El Deber. The operation was carried out by agents from the Special Police Intelligence Centre (CEIP) together with the anti-corruption specialist prosecutors' office, as part of an investigation into arms trafficking and organised crime.
Upon discovering the safe in one of the corners of the apartment, the officers requested the presence of firefighters. They used tools to force it open, but the interior was empty.
The departmental police commander in Santa Cruz, Colonel Edson Fernández, noted that the property contains luxury spaces, amenities and a video surveillance system with security cameras. However, no DVR or documentation was found at the location.
The residence was unoccupied at the time of the raid. In one of its exterior areas there was a swimming pool. Neighbours in the area told the cameras that no one lived in the apartment, although gatherings with musical groups were held there at weekends.
Among the objects found inside the house was a wooden barrel with the initials "R M", located on a table in the interior of the property. No documentation was found that would allow identification of the owner.
