A foreign national was apprehended on Wednesday, 14 October 2026 as a suspect in the murder of Johan G.P., a 26-year-old shot dead in a mechanical workshop in the northern zone of Santa Cruz, according to lapatria.bo.
The arrest was made one day after the crime. The suspect was captured also in the northern zone of the capital, whilst police and the public prosecutor's office continue investigations to determine the involvement of other individuals.
Johan G.P. was killed when a hooded and armed individual entered the workshop where he was located and opened fire on him. Following the attack, the attacker escaped on a motorcycle alongside an accomplice. The forensic autopsy determined that the victim received three bullet impacts: one to the head and two to the back and neck, injuries that caused his death.
Ángel Veizaga, the victim's family lawyer, confirmed in an interview with the "El Mañanero" programme on Red Uno that investigators had ordered raids in the northern zone. At that time, the defence was awaiting expert reports and the results of proceedings carried out at the crime scene. Veizaga noted that he did not yet have sufficient technical information to specify the type of weapons used, a detail that should be established through reports from the Institute of Forensic Investigation (IDIF) and specialised police agencies.
The victim had a record for drug trafficking and had been presented as apprehended months before, according to police cited by Unitel. His mother, Juanita P., stated that her son had received threats on at least two occasions prior to his death. In her complaint, she mentioned Nicolás S., an Ecuadorian citizen identified as Johnny, and a third person whose identity she decided to keep confidential. The authorities clarify that these statements do not by themselves establish the involvement of those mentioned in the murder, an aspect that should be clarified during the investigation.
The investigation continues with the aim of identifying all those responsible for the crime and determining the motive for the attack.
