Double murder in Valle Sánchez: police point to drug "flip" as motive

Drug shipment "flip" the main hypothesis in Warnes double murder

The police commander, Adrián Álvarez, stated on Tuesday that the central investigative line in the double homicide recorded in the Valle Sánchez area points to an alleged "flip": the theft or illegal seizure of a shipment of controlled substances. According to El Deber, Álvarez made the statements on the programme ON-Otra noche con Sissi of the same media outlet.

The victims were identified by the Public Prosecutor's Office as Wendeles A. E., 29 years old, and Jefferson P. P., 46, both Brazilian citizens. The two men were attacked with firearms whilst they were in the front yard of a residence in the El Valle de Akualand urban development, within the municipality of Warnes.

Álvarez confirmed that both deceased had criminal records linked to drug trafficking. "According to information obtained by intelligence services, these persons have records for drug-trafficking offences," said the commander, who added that the investigative hypothesis focuses on their illegal activities related to drug trafficking.

The officer explained that the phenomenon of "flips"—theft of drugs between narcotics groups—generates cycles of violence and reprisals. "These facts have precisely their connection with these illegal activities of drug trafficking. We have information linked to marijuana shipments," Álvarez stated. He added that "this criminal spirit engages in extortion activities, thefts of the same controlled substance... and these things generate this revenge and these acts of bloodshed".

In the framework of the investigation, the police have detained a woman of Paraguayan nationality. Through her, the authorities expect to advance in the investigative process to clarify the case.

Álvarez expressed that the investigative units have the capacity to solve the crime, as they have done with other cases recorded in recent weeks in the region.
