FELCC dismantles robbery gang in Oruro: two detained and objects recovered

Operation in Pumas Andinos breaks up residential robbery network in Oruro

The Special Force to Combat Crime (FELCC) in Oruro dismantled a gang dedicated to residential robbery under the method known as "monrraso", according to lapatria.bo. The operation resulted in the apprehension of two people and the recovery of multiple objects stolen from various victims since September.

The trigger for the intervention was the casual recognition of stolen goods. A victim of a robbery that occurred in September identified their belongings being sold at a commercial fair located in the eastern zone of Oruro and immediately alerted FELCC personnel.

The officers went to the location and executed a raid on a residence in the Pumas Andinos area, with support from the Department of Criminal Analysis and Intelligence (DACI). During the search they recovered a motorcycle, televisions, clothing and various valuable items that had been stolen from different complainants.

Inside the property they also found crowbar-type tools used to force locks and doors. The discovery of controlled substances similar to marijuana required the involvement of the Special Force to Combat Drug Trafficking (FELCN) for the corresponding processing.

As a result of the operation, two people were apprehended, including a woman. Both were referred to the Public Prosecution Service on charges of possession and receiving of stolen objects.

The departmental director of the FELCC, colonel Roger Montaño, stated that authorities continue verifying the background of the suspects in the computer system and that further details will be provided on the progress of the investigations. Montaño also noted that in Pumas Andinos and surrounding areas between 10 and 15 formal robbery complaints have been registered from September to date.

The authorities also specified that this operation adds to previous actions in which gangs with links to La Paz were dismantled, although investigations seek to determine whether the detained individuals maintain connections with other criminal networks active in the region.
