La Paz Public Prosecutor's Office admits complaint against BoA executives over misuse of assets
The La Paz prosecutor's office admitted a complaint against Boliviana de Aviación. Manager Finfera claims he was not notified and denounces internal leaks.
Complaint against BoA admitted in La Paz: manager says he received no legal notification
The La Paz public prosecutor's office admitted the complaint filed by deputy Rolando Pacheco (AP) against Boliviana de Aviación (BoA), according to El Deber. The accused are Reynaldo Ramos—father of commercial manager Ever Ramos—and Germán Lara, planner and crew controller, on charges of misuse of assets, usurpation of functions, and extortion.
The general manager of the state airline, Estanislao Finfera, assured the media outlet that he received no formal legal notification. "It cannot be, that is false, I have no legal notification whatsoever, when I receive legal notification I will do what corresponds to me, pass it to the legal department, any case that arrives," Finfera declared.
According to the parliamentary complaint, Reynaldo Ramos—father of the commercial manager—allegedly took on responsibilities that did not correspond to him as he was not part of the company: reviewing internal documentation, requesting data and manuals from other airlines, and participating in institutional meetings. For this reason, Pacheco accuses him of usurpation of functions and misuse of assets.
Regarding Germán Lara, the deputy contends that he was formally appointed as planner and crew controller on 17 August, but was already performing functions as of 23 July, which would constitute the crime of extortion.
Finfera also rejected an earlier complaint from the same parliamentarian related to a trip to Miami. "I went in defence of the company, to do work for the company, because I went there to defend something I have inherited, a lawsuit for 750 thousand dollars, to consult with lawyers," argued the manager.
The executive added that to date, neither he nor the company has been summoned by the prosecutor's office to declare on any of the cases, and that BoA's legal advisory team will respond to the accusations in due course.
Finfera also pointed to internal leaks as the source of the complaints. "It is information that comes from within the company itself and that is the worst, because the company itself is the informant, grabbing and showing things that have no basis," he stated. He noted that he has already identified those responsible for the leaks, as it would be company personnel who supplied the information.
