Defendant claims to be a tractor driver, but his phone shows him with PCC weapons

A 19-year-old identified as Sebastián S. S. was sent preventively to Palmasola prison for six months after being charged with attempted homicide against a 16-year-old adolescent in Santa Cruz de la Sierra. The case, reported by El Deber, carries a significant aggravating factor: images on one of his mobile phones show him posing with military-grade weapons linked to Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC).

The incident in the Guaracal neighbourhood

According to investigations by the Special Force to Combat Crime (Felcc) and the Public Prosecutor's Office, the incident occurred on 15 October in the Guaracal neighbourhood. The defendant was walking down the street with a firearm in his hand when he encountered a group of young people. After an altercation, he fired at one of them and fled to hide in a residential building in the area, according to a joint report from the Felcc and Public Prosecutor's Office under the direction of prosecutor Iván Ortiz.

"I was robbed and fired in self-defence," he told the judge

At the bail hearing before judge Álvaro Gutiérrez, Sebastián S. S. exercised his right to a defence and offered a different version. He claimed that on that day he had bought something at a nearby shop when a group of young people insulted him, assaulted him and stole money from his wallet.

"There were several of them, they assaulted me, they stole the money from my wallet, one of them had a machete and they hit me on the head. I fired at the group in self-defence and ran to hide in a residential building in the area," he declared to the judge.

The defendant also claimed he made his living as a tractor driver in San Ignacio de Velasco to support his family. "I made my living as a tractor driver because I also had to help my younger brother. In San Ignacio the work ran out, due to lack of diesel, and I came to Santa Cruz de la Sierra. Here I started working cleaning the residential building where I hid," he said during the hearing.

Contradictions and confession to three contract killings

The Public Prosecutor's Office and Felcc point out that the defendant's account presents serious contradictions. At the moment of his arrest, Sebastián S. S. allegedly confessed to police that he had participated in the violent deaths of three people in San Ignacio de Velasco, working as a contract killer.

Additionally, at the hearing he admitted to using two mobile phones. In one of them, shown to the officers, images appear of him with PCC military-grade weapons, a criminal organisation of which he allegedly was a member.

Following these revelations, the Public Prosecutor's Office and Felcc activated proceedings to examine both devices and initiate investigative steps aimed at clarifying the three murders recorded in San Ignacio de Velasco.

Preventive detention for 180 days

Judge Álvaro Gutiérrez ordered the preventive detention of Sebastián S. S. for 180 days in Palmasola under a formal charge of attempted homicide against the 16-year-old adolescent. The investigation remains open regarding the alleged contract killings in San Ignacio de Velasco.
