Mother arrested in Villazón for poisoning her two children with rat poison

Infanticide attempt investigated in Villazón following poisoning of two minors
Two children aged 9 and 3 are receiving medical care at Hospital San Roque in Villazón, department of Potosí, after allegedly being poisoned by their own mother. According to El Deber, the Public Ministry opened an investigation for attempted infanticide.
The main suspect is Liliana A. S., 32 years old. The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon at a residence in the area, where the woman allegedly gave her children a substance identified as rat poison to ingest. She subsequently travelled with the minors to the riverbank area of the Lampaya community.
After presenting symptoms of poisoning, the suspect alerted her mother, who came to their aid and took the three of them to the hospital, where they received medical care.
The departmental prosecutor of Potosí, René Cáceres, stated that the priority is to protect the minors and ensure that the investigation proceeds with objectivity, responsibility and respect for their rights. "We already have important evidence that will be evaluated within the investigative process; for now, the suspect is in custody," Cáceres added.
As part of the investigative proceedings, a search of the scene was conducted and evidence was gathered for corresponding analysis. The authorities also have a police report, witness statements and a psychological evaluation, elements that will make it possible to establish the circumstances of the case.
