Police recover vehicle stolen in Chile in Challapata using intelligence and geolocation
Bolivian police found a car reported stolen in Chile inside a mechanic's workshop in Challapata. No arrests have been made and investigations are continuing.

Bolivian police recovered on 21 September a vehicle reported as stolen in Chile, found in a mechanic's workshop in Challapata, department of Oruro. According to lapatria.bo, the original theft took place in July of this year in Chilean territory.
Colonel Miguel Ángel Zambrana Aguilar, departmental commander of the Oruro police, held a press conference in Plaza 10 de Febrero to detail the operation. Zambrana Aguilar noted that intelligence and geolocation work were decisive in locating the vehicle, which was found hidden inside the workshop.
The operation was carried out by the Vehicle Theft Prevention Directorate (Diprove) of the Oruro police. Once recovered, the vehicle was transported to the city of Oruro with the help of a tow truck.
No arrests have been recorded so far. Investigations are continuing with the aim of identifying and capturing those responsible for the transnational theft.
The authorities warned that criminal gangs habitually use remote localities to hide stolen vehicles, clone their licence plates and sell them illegally. The Challapata case follows this pattern, according to the departmental command.
The legitimate owner of the vehicle will need to present himself in Oruro to complete the necessary legal procedures and receive formal return of the motorised vehicle.
