Four armed men on two motorcycles robbed a street trader at the Plan Tres Mil roundabout in Santa Cruz on the morning of Wednesday, 7 October, according to El Deber. The incident occurred in broad daylight and was recorded by security cameras in the area.
The footage shows the four assailants escaping after firing at least four shots. Two of them ran towards their accomplices, who were waiting for them on the motorcycles, and immediately fled.
Three of the assailants wore dark clothing and one wore white garments. The group managed to snatch money from the victim and shot him when he pursued them in an attempt to recover the stolen cash.
The street trader was wounded, although a mobile phone he was carrying stopped the bullet that was headed for his heart. The device was completely destroyed by the impact. The victim was urgently transferred to a medical centre, where he received emergency care.
Police launched an investigation at the scene of the robbery and proceeded to gather testimonies and evidence to identify those responsible.
