Senator Condori detained for six months: defence claims evidence consists only of social media links
Lawyer Ángel Martan contends that the charges against substitute senator Nilton Condori are based solely on TikTok, Facebook and YouTube videos.

Defence: Prosecution used only TikTok and Facebook videos to detain Senator Condori
TikTok, Facebook and YouTube links were the only evidence presented by the Prosecution to support the six-month preventive detention of substitute senator Nilton Condori, according to statements made on Monday by his defence lawyer, Ángel Ramiro Martan, as reported by El Deber.
"The imputation ruling presents evidence on page 16. What is the evidence? Identified links from YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, these are the elements that the Public Ministry would have investigated through its investigators. These are the elements on the basis of which Senator Nilton Condori is detained today," Martan stated on the programme ON - Otra Noche con Sissi Áñez, broadcast by El Deber.
On Sunday at midday, Condori was apprehended as he was about to enter an expanded meeting that he himself had called, at which pressure measures were to be decided. The event took place without his presence: the legislator was taken to the Felcc to give a statement.
On Monday, the precautionary hearing was held. Although the defence argued that Condori could not be deprived of liberty by reason of his status as a State legislator, the judge dismissed the motion and ordered his imprisonment in San Pedro prison.
The Prosecution charges the senator with the crimes of public incitement to commit offences and terrorism, arising from statements he made at an assembly. Martan acknowledged that his client spoke the words in question, but maintained that they were taken out of context.
"First, it is an expression, we have every right to express ourselves; that is what he maintains, he was present at an assembly through which the feelings of our peasant brothers were made known," the defence lawyer explained.
Martan further questioned the scope of the imputation: "Today we have to walk around without expressing the needs that this people have, the need that you have, the need that the woman selling on the corner has, those people who generate their daily income".
