Failed bribery at police checkpoint results in three arrests and drug seizure
Three men were apprehended in the Guapilo area on the Cotoca road after attempting to bribe police officers with 2,000 US dollars to avoid inspection of their vehicle, according to El Deber.
Officers from the Integral Police Station (EPI-7) rejected the offer and immediately called in personnel from the Special Drug Enforcement Force (Felcn), who arrived along with the on-duty prosecutor to carry out a search of the Ford Raptor van.
During the vehicle search, agents found 24 grams of marijuana in two ziploc-type bags, four transparent plastic containers with a white substance that tested positive for cocaine, 15 tablets of narcotic drugs, five mobile phones and cash totalling 3,200 dollars and 6,970 bolivianos, kept in a backpack that was seized and placed under investigation.
Colonel Dimar Capirolo, director of the Felcn, confirmed details of the operation. "These individuals attempted to evade the police checkpoint by offering officers the sum of 2,000 US dollars. Faced with the officers' insistence on searching the vehicle, they called in personnel from the Special Drug Enforcement Force, who arrived with the on-duty prosecutor to search the belongings," explained the police chief.
Capirolo specified that two of the three apprehended men have records for drug trafficking and robbery, whilst the third works as a pilot. All three remain in custody pending action by the relevant authorities.
