Suspected serial killer arrested in female clothing in Paraíba state
According to fr.news.yahoo.com, Brazilian police in the state of Paraíba arrested suspected serial killer Jorlan Lopes da Silva, 33, last Sunday. He is suspected of being one of the deadliest serial killers in the country. He is believed to have killed approximately 80 people in the Vale do Mamanguape region.
Images of the arrest rapidly circulated in local and international media. They show the suspect dressed as a woman, wearing makeup and styled hair, carrying a 2-year-old child in his arms, according to the Jornal da Paraíba. Despite this disguise, authorities formally identified him and placed him in custody.
For around twenty days prior to his arrest, Jorlan Lopes da Silva had been hiding in a forested area. He subsequently found refuge within a community connected to a criminal organisation. Police had conducted an earlier operation during which one of his accomplices was arrested, but the main suspect managed to escape.
It was a visible tattoo that reportedly allowed investigators to track him down. Once in detention, he told authorities that he had committed approximately 80 murders during his lifetime. "This is a very significant number. We believe that if it is not this number, it is something very close to it," declared the inspector in charge of the case. The suspect also claims to have committed his first murder at the age of 13.
