Operation Geodo arrests five suspects of drug trafficking in monitored bunker in Bahia
Five people were detained in flagrante during "Operation Geodo", launched by Civil and Military police in the city of Vitória da Conquista, in south-west Bahia, on Thursday (1st), according to g1.globo.com. The operation also executed six search and seizure warrants.
The detainees are three men and two women. One of the investigated properties functioned as a "bunker" for the group, equipped with grilles on windows and doors and iron gates to hinder access and protect occupants from possible invasions by rival factions, according to the Civil Police.
The delegate of the 8th Drug and Narcotic Offences Division of Vitória da Conquista, Fabiano Aurich, explained that the structures were installed precisely to delay the entry of authorities and prevent attacks by competing groups.
During the searches, agents seized drugs, approximately R$ 30,000 in cash, mobile phones, a vehicle and materials used for wrapping narcotics. Among the items collected were also a heat-sealing machine, a portable counterfeit banknote detector, monitoring cameras, stand-alone equipment and a card payment machine.
The five suspects were taken to the police station and charged in flagrante for the crimes of drug trafficking and association for drug trafficking. All remain in custody and at the disposal of the Justice system. The operation was ongoing to deepen investigations.
