Five arrested in Bope operation against organised crime in Macapá and Santana
A Bope task force arrested five people over two days of operations against organised crime in Amapá, with arrests for rape, robbery and trafficking.
Bope launches operation in Amapá and arrests five suspects in two days
Five people were detained in an operation to combat organised crime launched on Thursday (17) in the cities of Macapá and Santana, in Amapá, according to reporting from g1.globo.com. The arrests occurred both through execution of court warrants and flagrante delicto, for the crimes of rape, robbery and drug trafficking.
On the first day, three suspects were targeted by the task force, including a man under investigation for rape in Santana. On Friday (18), two further arrests were made, related to robbery and drug trafficking.
Lieutenant-Colonel Hércules Lucena, deputy commander of the Special Operations Battalion (Bope), highlighted the role of the population in identifying the suspects. "We are counting on the population and investigating everything related to drug trafficking crimes, recovery of stolen vehicles with theft restrictions and robbery, and cases of firearm possession, especially in flagrante circumstances," Lucena stated.
The operation mobilises seven Bope teams, comprising the Motorised Tactical Ostensible Patrol (Rotam), the Shock Troop, the Special Operations Company, the Rapid Ostensible Intervention Group (Giro) and the Canine Unit.
