Fugitive sentenced to 42 years for stepdaughter's rape arrested in São José do Rio Preto

Fugitive arrested in Rio Preto after ten months on the run
Adriano Feliciano da Silva, 40 years old, was arrested on Monday (14th) in Bela Vista neighbourhood, north zone of São José do Rio Preto (SP), according to information from the Civil Police obtained by g1.globo.com. He had been a fugitive for approximately ten months since the sentencing judgment was handed down.
Silva was sentenced by judge Alceu Correa Junior, of the Domestic and Family Violence Against Women Court in Rio Preto, for the crimes of qualified rape and rape of a vulnerable person. The combined sentences totalled 42 years and 2 months in prison under a closed regime.
The crimes were committed against the defendant's stepdaughter during the period when the victim was between 13 and 17 years of age.
The arrest warrant was issued in November of last year, following the final judgment of the conviction. From that point, the whereabouts of Adriano Silva were unknown to authorities.
The arrest was presented at the Rio Preto Sectional Police Station, where the man remained at the disposal of the judiciary.
