A man wanted by the courts for robbery hit a couple on a motorcycle, fled without providing assistance and crashed his car into a tree during the escape, this Sunday (20), on Avenida Presidente Ernesto Geisel in Campo Grande. According to g1.globo.com, Harisson Jorge de Morais Paraizo, 42 years old, was arrested in flagrante delicto at the scene.
The motorcycle passenger, 48 years old, fractured her femur and was taken to Santa Casa. The motorcyclist was unhurt.
Collision and escape
According to the incident report, Harisson was driving a Honda HR-V along Avenida Presidente Ernesto Geisel when he struck the rear of the motorcycle, which was turning onto Rua Bom Sucesso in Vila Piratininga. After the collision, the driver left the scene without providing assistance to the victims.
During the escape, Harisson lost control of the HR-V, went up onto the median strip and ended up in a vegetated area, where the vehicle collided with a tree.
Arrest warrant and charges
While handling the incident, police consulted the driver's records and located an outstanding arrest warrant issued by the 2nd Criminal Execution Court of Campo Grande. The document refers to a final conviction for robbery, with a sentence of 8 years and 2 months imprisonment in closed regime.
Harisson suffered abrasions to his face, was taken to Santa Casa and remained hospitalised under police guard. In addition to serving the warrant, he was charged in flagrante delicto for grievous bodily harm in traffic, failure to provide assistance and leaving the scene of the accident without aiding the victims.
The Metropolitan Civil Guard (GCM) attempted to administer a breathalyser test, but the examination could not be completed due to the driver's state of health, as recorded in the police report.
Money seized and car impounded
Inside the HR-V, police found R$ 4,900 in cash. The sum was seized. The vehicle was towed to the car park of the State Traffic Department of Mato Grosso do Sul (Detran-MS) for having expired registration.
G1.globo.com reported it had not located Harisson's legal representative by the time of publication, keeping the space open for his response.
