According to valor.globo.com, an armed man with a knife invaded a municipal infant education school in Curitiba and held 13 children hostage in one of the classrooms. The suspect was killed by police at approximately 18:20, after more than two hours of negotiation attempts, as reported by the Public Security Office (Sesp).
The children were rescued uninjured, according to the Military Police. They and their families will receive medical and psychological care.
The Special Police Operations Battalion (BOPE) was deployed to conduct negotiations with the suspect. The area surrounding the school was cordoned off, and a police helicopter monitored the incident throughout the entire period.
