Brazilian influencer shot dead after being removed from her home in Pará
Evelyn Lima Dantas, 21, was killed in Mãe do Rio, Pará, days after obtaining provisional freedom in a homicide case.
21-year-old influencer shot dead in Mãe do Rio; criminal gang initials indicated
Evelyn Lima Dantas, a 21-year-old Brazilian influencer with more than 24,000 followers on social media, was shot dead in the early hours of the morning in the municipality of Mãe do Rio, in the state of Pará, in north-east Brazil, according to infobae.com.
According to the police report, at least two assailants arrived at the property in a vehicle and forced their way in around 3:30 in the morning, after neighbours reported hearing several shots. Inside the house, where Evelyn was with her father, the attackers forced the father to remain on the ground while they dragged the young woman outside.
Once in the street, Evelyn was hit by multiple gunshots. Emergency services and security officers arrived at the scene and found the young woman's body on the pavement, covered with a sheet.
The victim's father told authorities that, following the attack, those responsible painted the letters "TCP" on the facade of the house before fleeing. Police reported that those initials correspond to the criminal group Terceiro Comando Puro, an organisation originating in Rio de Janeiro. However, to date the authorities have not confirmed that said group was responsible for the homicide.
Agents also instructed Evelyn's father to stop cleaning the area where the attack took place, in order to preserve the crime scene and allow forensic experts to carry out their work.
The murder took place just days after Evelyn Lima Dantas obtained provisional freedom on 9 September, as part of an investigation related to the homicide of retired sergeant Antonio Anildo Alves da Silva, 56 years old. Da Silva was killed on 29 July, when armed men fired at him from a vehicle in front of a supermarket. Authorities suspected that Evelyn had participated in the planning of that attack, which is why she had remained in pre-trial detention before receiving provisional freedom.
Police also noted that the young woman had previously been detained on suspicion of participating in activities linked to drug trafficking and maintaining alleged connections with a criminal organisation. Investigations into those matters were ongoing at the time of her death.
As of Wednesday night, authorities reported that no arrests had been made for this homicide. As part of the investigation, officers were analysing footage from surveillance cameras to identify the vehicle used by the attackers and reconstruct their escape route. The Civil Police indicated that the corresponding forensic examinations had been requested and that interviews with witnesses were being conducted. Authorities are keeping all investigative lines open as forensic procedures advance and evidence is being gathered.
On her social media profiles, Evelyn Lima Dantas shared photographs and videos of her travels, posts about her daily life, and content about fashion and lifestyle. After her death became known, her account was deactivated.
