Minister Fux requests access to confidential proceedings against Bolsonaro at the Supreme Court

Fux requests confidential inquiries linked to Bolsonaro to analyse annulment request

Minister Luiz Fux of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) ordered on Thursday (8) that the court's secretariat send to his office the confidential proceedings in progress against former president Jair Bolsonaro, as reported by agenciabrasil.ebc.com.br.

The ruling determines that the judicial secretary send all volumes, annexes, appendices and media relating to inquiries into Fake News and digital militias, as well as the proceeding concerning the coup plot.

The measure was taken in the context of an action by the Progressists Party (PP), which seeks to annul Operation Tempus Veritatis, launched by the Federal Police (PF) in 2024 at the order of minister Alexandre de Moraes. It was this operation that initiated the investigations concluded with the conviction of Bolsonaro and allies in the coup plot case.

The PP's petition, signed by Bolsonaro's lawyers, argues, among other grounds, that Moraes authorised the searches and seizures solely on the basis of a request from the PF, without input from the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic (PGR).

The document reached the STF in April 2024 and had remained without any movement. After receiving the requested proceedings, Fux will analyse the annulment request.
