Seizure of nearly half a tonne of drugs on SP-563 ends in arrest

According to g1.globo.com, a driver was detained on Friday afternoon (11) after being caught with 426 kg of narcotics in the cargo compartment of a vehicle on the General Euclides de Oliveira Figueiredo Highway (SP-563), in Mirante do Paranapanema, in the interior of São Paulo.

The stop occurred during Operation Impact conducted by the Highway Police. The team began monitoring the vehicle due to the dark tints on the windows, which prevented visibility of the car's interior.

During the inspection, the driver showed nervousness and provided contradictory information. Police officers also identified discrepancies in the vehicle's identification data and found that there was an active theft report registered.

An inspection of the cargo compartment revealed 182 blocks of cannabis, 565 packages of skunk, and a bag containing cannabis seeds. The Highway Police estimated the total value of the cargo at approximately R$ 2.8 million.

The driver was arrested in flagrante for drug trafficking and receiving stolen property and taken to the Police Station in Mirante do Paranapanema, where he remained in custody. In addition to the drugs, the vehicle itself, a mobile phone, and R$ 210 in cash were seized.
