Woman with preventive detention ordered suspected of scams exceeding R$ 1 million in Minas Gerais
Luana Oliveira Franco da Rosa, 28 years old, is being sought by the Civil Police of Minas Gerais for fraud that is suspected to have defrauded at least five victims.

The Civil Police of Minas Gerais is searching for Luana Oliveira Franco da Rosa, 28 years old, after the court decreed her preventive detention on suspicion of fraud. According to oglobo.globo.com, at least five victims have already given statements, and the total estimated loss exceeds R$ 1 million.
According to the investigation, the suspect is believed to have taken out vehicle financing in the names of third parties without the knowledge or consent of the account holders. Luana is also suspected of requesting money as loans from people in her circle, promising to return the amounts — payments that, according to reports collected by police, were never made.
The investigators further point out that the suspect approached family members and acquaintances to obtain documents, mobile phones and banking details. One of the victims is a 72-year-old woman who had known her for more than ten years and regularly received her visits at home. Luana presented different justifications for accessing documents and information, such as registration problems and debt payment. In some cases, the victims are believed to have performed facial recognition and handed over their mobile phone to the suspect, allowing unauthorised financial transactions.
Police are evaluating the possibility that Luana has travelled to Santos (SP) or is in Cruzeiro (SP). The search continues, and officers are attempting to identify other possible victims. The case is proceeding in the Justice system of Itanhandu under investigation for fraud.
The law firm Firmino Advocacia, responsible for Luana's defence, stated to g1 that she voluntarily appeared at the Itanhandu Police Station on 3 September to provide clarifications. The preventive detention was decreed on 16 September, a few days later. The defence maintains that Luana never refused to cooperate with the authorities, considers the measure unnecessary, and states there are no concrete elements that justify it. According to her lawyers, judicial measures have already been adopted for her to respond to the accusations whilst at liberty.
