Suspect detained with 414 kg of narcotics after police encirclement in smallholding sector
The Military Police of the state of Rondônia, through the 10th and 11th Military Police Battalion and the Border Police Battalion (BPFRON), in conjunction with the Federal Police, the Narcotics Suppression Delegation (DRE) and the Integrated Task Force to Combat Organised Crime (FICCO/RO), seized more than 414 kilograms of drugs in the Rolim de Moura region during Operation Brazil Against Organised Crime. According to pm.ro.gov.br, the operation resulted in the detention of a suspect and the removal of a large consignment of narcotics from circulation.
The operation began following a tip-off indicating that a black VW Virtus Highline was travelling towards Rolim de Moura carrying a large quantity of drugs. Information provided to the teams indicated that the vehicle displayed visibly lowered suspension, a characteristic consistent with the transport of heavy cargo.
Radio patrol units from the 10th BPM set up an encirclement to intercept the vehicle. Upon noticing the approach of the police vehicles, the driver altered course and entered a smallholding sector, but was quickly caught and restrained by military police officers.
During the vehicle search, officers located ten bags containing substance similar to cannabis, totalling approximately 412 kilograms, in addition to 2.9 kilograms of cocaine base paste. The material was distributed in the boot, the front right seat and the rear seat of the car, totalling approximately 414.9 kilograms of narcotics seized.
The suspect, the vehicle and all material were remanded to the Federal Police Delegation for adoption of the applicable legal measures. The incident is provisionally classified as the crimes of drug trafficking and disobedience.
